ICD offers a wide range of installation and commissioning services for energy management systems. In addition to providing standard solutions, ICD also provides tailor-made solutions for customers. Our energy management experts conduct detailed analysis of power consumption and provide optimized solutions. A glance at the services offered:
- Taking panel cut outs for meters
- Networking of meters
- Laying of armored or unarmored cable
- PT and CT wiring to meters
- Laying of Fiber optic cable
- Development, supply and installation of SCADA software
The scope of ICD services includes:
- Networking and commissioning of ICD multifunction meters
- Supply and installation of connector kits and
- Meters to terminate RS 485 communication cable.
For smooth installation and commissioning of EMS, complete shut down at the client’s site, calibration of energy meters and hardware and networking assistance is required.
PT and CT testing for existing multifunction meters
ICD takes care of laying of communication cable from meters to the EMS system. We also supply client grade PC with installation of necessary software. Client grade PC and data logging, and report generation services as per client requirements are also provided.
After successful installation and commissioning of EMS, ICD offers comprehensive Annual Maintenance services to all customers. 40% of the total project cost is taken as AMC charges.
Scope of AMC
- 4 regular visits and 1 emergency visit within 12 months period
- Regular check of meters during maintenance visits
- ICD informs the visit time to the customer
- Details of issues to be informed to the customer through email or fax
- No changes for service of meters and DCU, but component cost will be charged
- ICD will evaluate any software change requirement and offer suitable version of EMS wherever required
- At the end of every visit, customer can prepare MOM with ICD
- Buy-back offers as per the ICD policy
- AMC period will be active on the execution of contract with the receipt of the payment within 2 weeks
Hardware
ICD offers periodical checking of accuracy, display and other parts of meters made by ICD. Other hardware parts covered under ICD AMC are data concentrators and EMS communication systems.
Software
Software maintenance checks performed by ICD include checking status of anti-virus software installed in the EMS system and report generation software.
Additional features on AMC
Old meters and old DCU are covered under the buy-back policies in the AMC. We also offer a special package for new generation of EMS like web-enabling GPRS. ICD Carbon View is offered as an exclusive package.
Commercial Details
Payment is 100% against the AMC offer. We charge 30,000 INR extra for additional emergency calls. For maintenance work that requires extended stay at clients site, we charge 10,000 per day per engineer, which does not include travel and lodging charges. Service tax as applicable.
Meter Fixing
Connection or disconnection from the ICD’s distribution system is to be done only by authorized company personnel. Customer personnel are not permitted to climb supply poles or access ICDs underground facilities, or make any new connections to ICD lines. Only under circumstances specified in the SAFETY, UNLOCK, OPEN and/or De-energize section in the agreement, customers may connect or disconnect from the distribution system.
We will issue specific instructions for cutting meter seal during emergencies. Such operations are carried out by authorized company personnel. We do not permit non-company personnel to relocate or remove any company meter.
PT and CT Wiring
The PT voltage and CT current inputs are vital for energy measurement. The accuracy class and phase shift of PTs and CTs used determines the accuracy of energy measurement. Accurate measurement requires instrument class 1 PTs and CTs. Another important point to be considered is proper rating of PT burden and appropriate wiring length of CT. Selection of CT primary current should be done in such a way that load current varies from 25 to 75% of its full-scale value.
RS485 Networking
Communication Port Details We provide an optically isolated RS 485 communication port, which is a choice that needs to be specified while ordering. Similarly, the communication protocol – MODBUS RTU or MODBUS ASCII, needs to be specified while ordering. The meters are usually connected in multidrop network and data is collected in a centralized control room using standard SCADA software. The PC and instrument communicate in Master-Slave mode, where the PC sends a command address which is picked by the slave with matching address.
Programming
Proper programming of all meters is essential for smooth functioning. The table below shows the items to be programmed. All meters are provided a password for preventing alteration of configuration by unauthorized personnel.
Configuration Item | In Meter |
---|---|
New pass word | In All Meters |
Primary Voltage | In All Meters |
Secondary Voltage | In All Meters |
Primary Current | In All Meters |
Secondary Current | In All Meters |
Wiring Type | In All Meters |
Modbus Address | Meters with Communication Interface Only |
kWh & Run Hour reset | In All Meters |
Stringent testing and Calibration methods
During installation and commissioning, ICD conducts complete calibration and testing of energy meters. Engineers working onsite test the accuracy of every energy meter and multifunction meters by using a standard reference meter of a better accuracy than meter being tested. All multifunction meters are tested once in 3 years.
Apart from regular checks, ICD performs rigorous testing whenever there is a malfunction or abnormal readings are recorded. Testing and calibration of multifunction meters is usually carried out in the presence of representatives from the supplier and buyer.
Testing Additional Meters
Customers are free to connect a number of additional meters for measurement of electricity consumption. Additional meters are usually connected for ascertaining or regulating quantity of electricity supplied to the consumer, or number of hours’ electricity is supplied, or any other quantity connected to power supply.
We expect our consumers to adhere to agreement conditions while placing additional meters. In scenarios where the charges for supply depend partly or wholly on such meters, in the absence of an agreement, the licensee shall keep the meter, indicator, or apparatus correct.
